You’ve read the reflection. Now see how this story moved others—and add your own feeling.
Now it’s your turn →Why am I so mad and why can’t I move forward? I worked so hard and my team has come so far, why do I keep looking over my shoulder?
Building something takes creativity and a lot of effort, that could be a project, sports team, family.
And not too far behind, there can be a force ready to knock it down or take what you’ve worked so hard for. So you start focusing on the other side, building strategies to block them. Preparing for the next attack.
In The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, the enemy is quite real. The threat casts a long shadow on middle earth. But Frodo, Sam, Aragorn, and the fellowship are not only defined by what they are against. They are also carrying something forward. An idea: that friendship, courage, mercy, and the shire are a flame.
The ring, Mordor, Sauron, and despair; all of that is the wind.
We can become too distracted by the negative when we could have been growing the positive. And it can be a real struggle to not want to look behind you and feel an injustice has occurred.
But you are being pulled away from the light you’ve been cultivating and growing.
That slight you feel is the wind working on blowing out the light. because a flicker of light and good can get blown out by the wind.
But if we focus only on the wind, we fail to grow the fire. And the fire is what could withstand the mightiest wind.
The enemy may be real.
But if all we become is opposition to the enemy, then the enemy has still shaped us.
