Freedom, that feeling that our responsibilities are behind us…can take on many forms.
It can be the feeling of choice.
The freedom to decide where we’re headed, or what goals we place in our sights.
But when has that reward ever felt like a burden?
And when has it felt truly earned?
Discomfort is often the factor that not only sparks change, but makes freedom feel real.
Being placed in a situation, sometimes without choice, sometimes through an unexpected detour, can shift our perspective. That shift is invaluable when it comes to appreciating the freedom we gain.
Discomfort can also deepen our appreciation for the support systems around us. We can’t do everything on our own. The people we lean on, the family we’re born into or the one we build, are often the foundation that allows freedom to feel meaningful.
We grow through discomfort. And when we lean into it, the rewards we earn carry more weight.
Home Alone is a film where a child grappling with belonging and perceived limits is suddenly granted the freedom he wished for. When that freedom is challenged by adversaries, he’s forced to confront what really matters. Through that discomfort, he gains a clearer understanding of what he has…and who he wants to share it with.
