For as long as I can remember, conversations I had about movies usually began—and often ended—with the same question: “Was it good?”
But I’ve come to realize… that question might be too simple.
Some of the best movie experiences I’ve had didn’t come from Oscar winners or critical darlings—they happened at midnight, in theaters nearly empty, while watching films that had been panned by critics or given a half-star in some review book. And yet, in those moments, I felt something. I was alive inside the story.
We are complex beings. Our days are filled with joy, anger, longing, surprise—so many emotions, often all at once. Film can reflect that. It can take us on a ride through those emotions, allowing us to experience a moment through someone else’s eyes. Sometimes, the films we argue about most passionately are the ones that move us the deepest. That kind of passion is not born from a “bad” movie—it’s born from connection.
That is what this site is about.
Not star ratings. Not aggregate scores. But experience.
So here’s my invitation: Watch a film. Experience it. Then write about it—not as a critic, but as you. Tell me how it made you feel, what stayed with you, what confused or thrilled you. If it resonated with you—or didn’t—I want to know.
Heck, I might even feature your review here.
To start, I’m kicking off with three films that center on new beginnings.
This is going to be fun.
Let’s talk about it.
