You’ve read the reflection. Now see how this story moved others—and add your own feeling.
Now it’s your turn →It is present day, and Richard finds himself fixated on a vintage photograph of a beautiful woman. Through hypnosis and sheer willpower, he travels into the past.
Once there, he meets the woman from the photograph, actress Elise McKenna. The year is 1912, and Elise is staying at the historic Grand Hotel.
Richard and Elise begin to form a deep connection. But is it enough to keep him in the past? Can two people from different worlds form a connection that transcends time?
Richard's attraction to the past, to what once was, is something many of us can relate to.
Through sheer determination, Richard creates a new reality for himself. And through his actions, he begins to build a life within it.
Yet it's the part of him still grounded in the present that ultimately prevents him from remaining in that reality.
There's something meaningful to learn from this.
We have the ability to imagine new realities and put in the effort to make them possible. But we must also ask ourselves whether we're creating a future we can truly live in, or simply trying to return to a past we've romanticized.
Nostalgia can be powerful. It can inspire us, but it can also hold us back.
And perhaps that's what makes Somewhere in Time so moving. Even when we cannot remain in the world we long for, the feelings of love and attachment we experience can transcend time.
